What Is a GicléE?

The term giclée (pronounced ZHE-CLAY) is a French word meaning "to spray." The term is used in the printmaking industry to refer to a print that has been made through an inkjet process, whereby the ink is sprayed onto a substrate creating a final output image. Giclée prints offer several advantages over prints made by other, more traditional printmaking methods:

  • They use high-quality fine-art papers and canvas

  • Flexibility of size, as the original piece of art is professionally photographed or scanned first, offering high resolution, richness, detail, and depth that set them apart from traditional offset lithography

  • 100% archival inks

  • Unlike lithographs and serigraphs, giclée prints have undergone extensive, third party fade testing. Accelerated light fading tests predict a display life of over 100 years before noticeable fading occurs

Ordering GicléEs

All of Donna's original paintings are available as two different types of giclée prints:

  • Printed on high-quality archival paper
We recommend this type of giclée to be matted and framed behind glass for a stunning display

  • Printed on Canvas
We recommend this type of giclée be framed without glass or a matte
